Hilary had been sent home from Arilinn Tower because she wasn't strong enough for the strenuous life of a Keeper. What she needed now was time for her body to heal from the demands that had been placed on it. Unfortunately, her mother had other plans.

This story was originally published in the Darkover anthology MZB's DARKOVER, Oct 1993

Hilary Homecoming Darkover eBook Marion Zimmer Bradley

This is more of a novella than a novel. Hilary’s Homecoming is not a book I’d recommend to someone unfamiliar with the Darkover series of fiction. But for those who, like me, can’t seem to get enough, it’s a great addition to the canon.

Written by Marion Zimmer Bradley, this storyline surprised me by showing that, even when you think you understand the culture of Darkover from the books, there can always be surprises.

Anyone familiar with the Darkover books knows that Hilary Castamir was sent home from her tower because she was too frail physically to continue as even a technician, not to mention work as a Keeper. I never really thought much about what her return home and to “normal” life would be like for her.

I don’t want to let any spoilers slip, so I will finish now by saying that once again I was entranced and seduced by Bradley’s amazing works if Darkover.

Hilary Homecoming Darkover eBook Marion Zimmer Bradley Reviews

It was one of what I call "filler" books, one in a series that was good, but not great; it had a smooth flow, and the writing was good, but the characters were archetypal at best, and while a good read, not a great one. I could put it down, in other words.
short and sweet.
This is a great exerpt from one of Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover books. You won't go wrong reading everything about Darkover!
Too short - even at that price

Too short
I like Marion Zimmer Bradley's writing and have read her books but have never read her Darkover series. The writing is good but more like a chapter out of book making you want more and leaving the story hanging.
